Knight's Castle

Preheat the oven to 180 °C fan (or 200 °C conventional) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mash the banana finely with a fork.

Cream the softened butter with the sugar.

Add the egg(s) and the mashed banana and beat everything until frothy.

In a second bowl, mix the flour, ground hazelnuts, vanilla sugar and baking powder.

Briefly fold the dry ingredients into the egg-butter-banana mixture until just a smooth batter forms.

Spread the batter evenly over the prepared baking sheet.

Bake the cake for about 30 minutes and then let it cool completely.

Using a template, cut a castle shape out of the cooled sheet cake.

Stir the powdered sugar with enough milk (or water) until a thick icing forms.

Color about half of the icing light brown, two thirds of the remainder green and the remaining portion red.

First coat the castle with brown icing as a base and decorate it immediately with Smarties.

Let the base dry, then pipe bushes and the gate with green and red icing and decorate with sugar sprinkles.

Finally, trace all inner lines with brown and green icing pens and let the castle dry well.
