Christmas Trees

Preheat the oven to 160 °C fan (180 °C conventional).

Peel and coarsely grate the apple. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Beat the softened butter, sugar and egg in a bowl until pale and fluffy.

Stir in the sour cream and grated apple briefly until evenly combined.

In a second bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and finely grated lemon zest.

Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir only until a smooth batter forms.

Grease the molds, spoon in the batter and smooth the surface if needed.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.

Let the trees rest for 5 minutes, then turn them out of the molds and cool on a wire rack.

Optionally dust with powdered sugar or decorate with icing.
