South Tyrolean Strauben

Whisk the flour with the white wine and milk in a bowl until smooth.

Stir in the melted butter, egg, Obstler, sugar, and sifted baking powder and salt until a smooth batter forms.

Let the batter rest for about 10 minutes.

Heat a generous amount of oil in a shallow pan (approx. 18–20 cm diameter).

Pour the batter through a funnel from the center in circular motions into the hot oil and fry on both sides until golden.

Drain the Strauben on kitchen paper.

Before serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.
