Sweet Party Sun

Sift the flour into a large bowl and make a well in the center.

Place the salt and egg in the well and sprinkle 100 g of sugar over them.

Warm the milk and melt the butter in it. Dissolve the yeast and 10 g of sugar in the warm milk-butter mixture.

Add the milk mixture to the flour and knead everything into a smooth, elastic yeast dough.

Lightly dust the dough with flour, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes until it has roughly doubled in volume.

Briefly knead the dough on a floured work surface, cover it again, and let it rise for another 15 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 175 °C fan (alternatively 200 °C top/bottom heat) and grease a baking sheet.

Divide the dough into three equal parts. Knead almonds, raisins and pearl sugar into each dough third, leaving 1 tbsp of each aside.

Roll each third of dough into a log and cut into about 7 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round bun.

Place the buns with a small gap between them onto the greased sheet to form a "party sun".

Mix the egg yolk with 1 tbsp milk, brush the buns with it, and sprinkle with the remaining almonds, raisins or pearl sugar.

Bake the party sun for about 20 minutes until golden brown.

Remove the party sun from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
