Pirate Ship

Preheat the oven to 160°C fan (or 180°C conventional) and grease a loaf pan (approx. 25 cm) well.

Thoroughly mix flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, finely ground hazelnuts and chocolate shavings in a bowl.

In another bowl, beat the egg, sugar, oil and natural yoghurt until frothy.

Add the dry flour mixture to the yoghurt mixture in portions and gently fold in briefly until a smooth batter just forms.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the surface.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 50–60 minutes, until the cake is cooked through.

Let the cake rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out and cool completely on a wire rack.

Stir the egg white with powdered sugar to make a thick icing.

Pipe small dots of icing along the long sides of the cake and press chocolate candies on as portholes.

Make a sail from paper, glue it to a skewer and leave the skewer slightly protruding at the bottom.

Insert the sail skewer into the cake and attach pirates made of sugar decorations (or gummy bears as an alternative) to the ship using a little icing.
