Mon Chéri Muffin

Preheat the oven to 160 °C (fan) and line a muffin tray with paper cases.

Thoroughly mix the flour, baking powder and baking soda in a bowl.

In a second bowl, beat the egg, oil, kirsch (cherry brandy), cherry juice, sour cream and sugar until fluffy.

Quickly fold the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until a smooth batter just forms.

Fill half of the batter into the cases, place one Mon Chéri in the center of each and cover with the remaining batter.

Bake the muffins for about 20–25 minutes, until risen and cooked through.

Let the muffins rest in the tray for 5 minutes.

Remove the muffins from the cases and let them cool completely on a wire rack; decorate as desired.
