Stick Bread

Combine the flour, baking powder and salt well in a bowl.

Pour the milk into a container and whisk the egg and soft butter into it until everything is well combined.

Add the milk-egg-butter mixture to the flour and knead everything into a stiff, smooth dough.

Divide the dough into portions and roll each into strands about 25 cm long.

Wrap each dough strand spirally around a clean, heatproof stick/branch and press the dough ends firmly together.

Bake over the open fire (best over embers, not in the flames), turning until the stick bread is golden brown and crispy (approx. 15–20 minutes).
