Smarties Cookies

Preheat the oven to 175°C fan (conventional: 200°C) and line one or two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Beat the softened butter with the sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl with a hand mixer until fluffy and the sugar is mostly dissolved.

Stir in the egg until a smooth mixture forms.

Mix the flour with the baking powder and add to the butter mixture, then stir briefly into a homogeneous dough.

Gently fold in the Smarties.

Using two teaspoons, place small heaps of dough with spacing onto the baking sheet.

Bake the cookies one sheet at a time in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes.

Remove the cookies from the sheet and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
