Plum (Zwetschgen) Cake

Preheat the oven to 175 °C fan (conventional oven: 200 °C) and grease a 26 cm tart pan.

Wash the plums, let them drain well and remove the stones.

Beat the soft butter, sugar and vanilla sugar in a bowl until pale and fluffy.

Beat in the egg(s) one at a time until everything is well combined.

Mix the flour, cornstarch and baking powder, add alternately with the milk to the egg-butter mixture and briefly stir into a smooth batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smooth it, top with the plums and sprinkle with pearl sugar.

Bake the cake for 40–45 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool a little in the pan.
