Baked Apple with Nougat Filling

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top and bottom heat).

Wash the apples, pat dry and remove the core with an apple corer.

Thoroughly mix the nougat with marzipan, chopped almonds and chopped pistachios.

Place the apples in a heatproof dish and press the nougat–marzipan mixture evenly into them.

Sprinkle the filled apples with a little sugar and place a small knob of butter on each.

Pour apple juice into the dish so the bottom is lightly covered.

Bake the apples on the middle rack for about 20–25 minutes, until the apples are soft and the filling is lightly browned.

Let the baked apples cool briefly and serve warm, optionally spooning some of the syrup from the dish over them.
